O'Dell - Week 2

This piece was interesting. I feel as though the writing could have been a little less wordy and get more to the point, there were a lot of frilly words as opposed to opinions in the reading, making it more difficult to get the idea/argument. I feel as though the author did this to seem as though they were coming from a more trusted and intellectual level.

As far as the show Honeymooners goes, although it might not have fully changed gender stereotypes, it does show them flipped on it's head, making the guy seem like the over dramatic hot head with the woman being the voice of calming reason. I wish I knew more about television in the 50s to make a stronger case, as with all the of the references in the piece, I felt lost and googling doesn't really fulfill the same lack of knowledge as actually watching these shows does. After watching a couple clips of Honeymooners I think this show does more than O'Dell would argue. Just a little bit after watching it, these shows aren't really offered in today's times. Everything is about making sure the cast is diverse, not exactly making sure the stereotypes are.
